Our read
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
The injury is the story before anything else. He has carried an IR designation since before week 3 of 2026, missed every week from week 1 through week 5, and while he sits on that list our board ranks him below every available receiver at the position. Even before the injury we only expected 3 games from him all season, so a return would not change much. There are no headlines suggesting a comeback is close.
Even if he got healthy tomorrow, the role is a problem. He landed sixth among NYG receivers, behind Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Darnell Mooney and Malachi Fields, and Nabers plus Wan'Dale Robinson combined for 58% of the targets in 2025. A room that crowded has cost players in his spot 0.9 points a game the next season on average. His own 2025 numbers back the worry: a 13.0% target share and only 4 red-zone touches, ranked 94th among 224 qualifying receivers.
The one thing working for him is that he ran deep routes, with a 17.8% air-yards share, and players in that spot added 1.3 points a game the following year. But he changed teams from PIT to NYG, his yards per target dropped from 9.4 in 2024 to 6.8 in 2025, and our preseason number was 16 points for the whole season. That is not a profile worth stashing through an IR stint. We would drop him and use the spot on a receiver who can help this week.
