The IR listing is the decision. He has carried that designation since before week 3 of 2026, it is a season-long list, and he plays nothing while he is on it. Weeks 1 through 5 of 2026 are all blank. With the bye still to come in week 13 of 2026, there is no week left this season where he can help anyone.
Even if he came off the list tomorrow, the case was set before the season and it was never a real one. Our preseason number was 1 point for all of 2026, built on 1 expected game at 1.0 points a game. The full range topped out at 8 points, and injuries were what pulled the low end down. He went undrafted out of the 2026 class, he is 25.3 years old on opening day, and he starts his career fifth on the IND depth chart, behind Tyler Warren, Mo Alie-Cox, Andrew Ogletree and Will Mallory. Warren took 21% of IND's targets in 2025 and Michael Pittman took 21% as well, 42% between them, so the top of this passing game is spoken for before a rookie fifth tight end enters it. Shane Steichen and Jim Bob Cooter return running the same offense, one that passed on 57% of situation-neutral plays in 2025, and the balls that flow from that go nowhere near the fifth man in this room.
So the roster move is simple. If he is somehow filling a spot for you, clear it and pick up a tight end who can actually take the field. We would not spend the wait on a fifth tight end with a season-long tag.
