Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Minshew has not played a single snap this season. Weeks 1 through 5 of 2026 all read did not play, and he is listed second in Arizona behind Jacoby Brissett, with a rookie third on the chart. Even before the season, our number sat at 24 points for the whole year on just 6 expected games, and that path is mostly gone now.
There is no injury designation on him, none since before week 1 of 2026, so this is a coach's decision and nothing more. He has a bye still waiting in week 14 of 2026, which is a long way to carry a quarterback who is not dressing.
The deeper problem is what he was last time he actually played. In 2025 he averaged -0.1 points a game over 4 weeks and never once cracked the position's weekly median. His per-game scoring fell from 9.43 in 2024 to -0.08 in 2025, and his yards per touch collapsed from 3.1 to 0.3. That is a two-season slide, not one bad month, and it cost him every bit of the QB20 season he put up in 2023. He was also a healthy scratch in 11 of his 17 weeks last year, which says the coaching staffs in front of him did not want the ball in his hands. Even on his snaps, he held just a 15.8% share, QB68 among 81 qualifying quarterbacks.
He changed teams from KC to ARI and the play caller is new in Mike LaFleur and Nathaniel Hackett, but none of that matters while he is not dressing. In week 6 of 2026 he cannot help you, so put the roster spot on a player who can.
