Our read
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
Jayden Higgins is on IR with no return date and no headlines, and he has missed all five weeks so far, weeks 1 through 5 of 2026. Before any talk of what he could give you, know that the board ranks him below every available receiver in Houston while that designation stands, so he is taking a roster seat and giving back nothing.
Even setting the injury aside, the case was thin. We gave him 20 points for the full season, built on just 3 expected games, because we saw injury risk in the profile before it cost him anything. Last year he ran a 12.3% target share on a 57.8% snap share, and Nico Collins and Dalton Schultz together took 44% of Houston's targets. Players in that crowded-room spot have lost 0.9 points a game the following year on average. His scoring leaned hard on touchdowns too, 27.8% of his points came from them, and that shape has cost players like him another 0.9 a game. The one thing pointing up is his 18.3% air-yards share, which for players in his spot has meant a gain of 1.3 points a game the next season. That is real, but it only turns into points you can start him for if he gets volume and stays healthy.
He is 23, a 2025 second-rounder, and he played all 17 weeks as a rookie, so the body held up then. None of that matters while he cannot take the field. Let him go and spend the spot on someone who plays in week 6 of 2026.
