Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Four games, 0.8 points a game, and two of those weeks sit at zero. Week 3 of 2026, week 5 of 2026, nothing. He also did not play in week 2 of 2026, so the appearance log is thinner than it looks. This is not a slow start that needs patience, it is the same receiver he was last season, when 2.4 points a game and a 4.3% target share left him WR125. His snaps fell from 61% early in 2025 to 10% late, so when the Rams had chances to try someone else, they tried someone else.
The path to touches is closed. Puka Nacua and Davante Adams took 55% of LA's targets between them in 2025, Whittington is listed third behind both, and his average depth of target was 6.8 yards, WR189, so even the targets he gets carry little scoring punch. Among players in his spot, points a game fell 0.9 on average from one season to the next, and he is already below where that group starts. Our preseason number was 67 points, built on 4.8 a game across 14 expected games, and he has not come close to that pace in any week this year.
Availability is not the issue, production is. He played 15 games in 2025 with none lost to injury, and there is no designation now. But the weekly median beat him 11 times in 15 tries, and he never cleared 15 points once. Sean McVay still runs this offense and the depth chart has not moved. If he is filling a spot for you, that spot deserves a rotation piece with actual upside. Drop him and use the spot on someone who can catch a football.
