Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Four games into 2026, Josh Whyle has zero targets, zero catches and 0.0 points a game. He missed week 2 of 2026, the only game off so far, and that came before any injury designation appeared. Our preseason number gave him 43 points across 13 expected games, about 3.3 a game, and he has not come close to that pace in any week he played. Nothing in the recent news suggests a shift is coming, and the wait for one has already cost him the first stretch of 2026.
The role behind the numbers was thin even before this season. Last year he was third on the Green Bay tight end chart behind Kraft and Jonnu Smith, played 37.5% of the snaps with a 3.0% target share, and his target share had fallen from 7.3% in 2024 to that 3.0%. His red-zone work was one touch all season, and his average depth of target was 3.8 yards. That profile, heavy on touchdowns and light on everything else, has cost players in his spot 0.7 points a game on average from one season to the next. For a player whose best week in 2025 was 7.2, that is a shave he could not absorb, and he did not.
His 2026 is the shape of that season carried forward. LaFleur still calls the plays, the passing game routes targets to Jakobie Keeney-James and Christian Watson before anyone at tight end beyond Kraft, and no week through week 5 of 2026 gave him a single target. The low end of our range, 14 points, came from injury-shortened seasons, and he is tracking well under even that without an injury excuse. Drop him and use the spot on a tight end with a target path.
