Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
He has missed weeks 2 and 5 of 2026, and he is on IR since before week 5, so while that holds he plays no games and the board ranks him below every available receiver. Three appearances have produced 5.3 points a game and zero touchdowns. We expected 14 games and 12.7 points a game when we set our 178 for the season, and he is running nowhere near that pace. The bye in 2026 is still ahead of him too, which stretches the wait even further.

The pre-season case had real support. He held a 21.0% target share and an 85.6% snap share last year, and receivers in his spot added 5 and 2.9 points a game the following year on those profiles. The 2025 tape backed it up: 11.8 points a game, above the position median in 12 of 17 weeks, WR13 in touches. But the same page carries the drag. He changed teams, and a crowded target room has cost players in his spot 0.9 points a game. Metcalf and Gainwell combined for 39% of the PIT targets in 2025, and his 8.2-yard average depth of target, WR171 among qualifying receivers, gives him little touchdown upside to pay for it. McCarthy and Angelichio are both new, so no one knows how the targets flow yet.
We had him at WR38, and he has not been worth where he went so far. If he returns and immediately gets back near 20% of the targets, there is still something here. Right now the roster spot is better spent on a receiver who can play this week.
