Our read
Written Oct 18, from his facts through last season
He has missed every game of 2026, weeks 1 through 5, and the IR designation has been on him since before week 3 of 2026. While he sits on that list he plays nothing, and our board puts him below every available tight end in the league. That alone settles it for anyone managing a roster right now.
Even if he came back, the path is blocked. He is listed fourth among DAL tight ends, behind Jake Ferguson, Brevyn Spann-Ford and Luke Schoonmaker, with DJ Rogers also on the depth chart in fifth. In 2025 he played one game, week 9 of 2025, and took 0.0% of Dallas's snaps that season, ranking TE136 among 137 qualifying tight ends, with 0.0% of the team's targets, TE126 among that same group. His career line is one game in each of the last two seasons, both healthy scratches in every other week, so this was never an injury story, it was a role story. And when Dallas does throw, the targets pile up at the top: CeeDee Lamb took 23% of the team's 2025 targets and George Pickens took 23%, 46% between the two, on a team that passed on 56% of its situation-neutral plays in 2025.
We projected 5 points for the full 2026 season on 2 expected games, and five missed weeks have already burned through that expectation. He is 27 and entering his fourth season, undrafted out of the 2023 class, and the coaching staff carrying over from last season offers no new opening. Nothing in the recent news changes it. Release him and use the seat on a tight end who can help you before week 6 of 2026.
