Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The IR tag is the fact that ends the conversation. Sermon has missed weeks 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of 2026, and while that list stands he plays nothing, which for a running back projected at 4 points for the whole season means the projection is already mostly gone.
Even if he came off the list tomorrow, the last season on record is empty. Three games played in 2025, 0.0 points a game across all three of them, zero touches, a 0.5% snap share out of 158 qualifying backs. His scoring fell from 3.59 a game in 2024 to nothing, and that drop costs him any claim to a spot behind Bijan Robinson and Brian Robinson, who sit first and second in Atlanta. Drake London and Kyle Pitts took 53% of Atlanta's targets between them a year ago, so the scraps behind two clear backs get thinner still. He beat the position's weekly median in zero of his three weeks a year ago. This is a back who has to fight for scraps on a depth chart where the scraps barely exist.
We set his expected games at 2 before the season, and five missed weeks have already eaten that. The middle range of outcomes is 0 to 9 points, and injuries are what pull the low end down, but here the low end looks like the plan. Atlanta also turned over its whole offensive brain trust, with Kevin Stefanski new as head coach and Tommy Rees new as play caller, so no system familiarity gives him a path. The tier behind him runs out at two players before a 1.0-point cliff, and he sits at the edge of it.
We would drop him. There is no week left on the schedule where he is worth the roster seat.
