Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Seven carries through five weeks of 2026. That is the whole situation. Tracy went from 212 touches in 2025 to 7 carries and 2 catches this season, 0.9 points a game, and the only week he cleared 5 points was week 5 of 2026. He has not missed a game and carries no injury designation, so this is not health. The new staff, John Harbaugh on top and Matt Nagy calling plays, put Cam Skattebo ahead of him on the NYG running back list, and Skattebo is getting the work while Tracy waits behind him.
What makes this hard to hold is that 2025 was real. He finished RB28 among 159 qualifying backs with 10.7 points a game, caught his way into a 10.8% target share, RB15 among 158, and beat the position median in 13 of 15 weeks. The flaw was always scoring: an 11.6% red-zone share of his own touches, RB100 among 147, and just 7 carries inside the ten. That profile needed volume, and volume is exactly what he has lost.
The downside is plain: at his current usage he scores close to zero, and our preseason number of 101 points is unreachable. The one soft spot in the schedule, weeks 15 to 17 of 2026 against CLE, DET and DAL, only matters if he climbs back into the rotation first. Hold only if you have a roster spot to burn and want first crack if Skattebo stumbles. Otherwise drop him and spend the spot on a live option.
