Our read
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
Brown has not played a down through week 5 of 2026, and the injury report has him out since before week 6 even kicked off. Five straight games on the shelf as an undrafted rookie tells you where this stands. He was never drafted in leagues this summer, and our board had him 483rd overall, WR198, with a preseason number of 5 points for the whole season.
The role was always the problem. Lamb and Pickens combined for 46% of Dallas targets in 2025, and Brown is listed sixth among the Cowboys receivers, behind both of them and also Flournoy and Turpin. There are no targets waiting for him here. We expected just 2 games from him this season, with injuries dragging the low end all the way down to 0.0, and he has burned all five weeks so far. He turned 22 just before opening day and came out of the 2026 class with no pick attached, and the staff around him is unchanged, Brian Schottenheimer still running the show with Klayton Adams calling plays. Dallas threw on 56% of situation-neutral snaps in 2025 and won 7.5 games, and none of it reached a sixth receiver.
His bye comes in week 14 of 2026, so the weeks before that are his only shot at mattering, and he needs to get healthy and hop two receivers just to enter the conversation. Nothing in the recent news helps him. If you have been carrying him in an injured slot, this is the week to clear it out. The 1.4-point cliff behind his tier of 3 players tells you how thin the alternatives are too. Cut him loose and keep the spot warm for a healthier name off the wire.
