Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
He has played three games this season and caught nothing. Zero targets through weeks 2, 3 and 4 of 2026, then a healthy scratch in week 5. He also sat out week 1 of 2026, so two of the season's five weeks have come and gone without him on the field. That's the whole case, and it's short.
The role never existed. In 2025 he ran routes on a 12.7% snap share, TE118 among 137 qualifying tight ends, with one red-zone touch all year and an average target depth of 3.8 yards. He beat the position's weekly median once in 11 games. His 7.1-point week 6 of 2025 was the ceiling, not the trend. Gunnar Helm, Daniel Bellinger and Kylen Granson all sit ahead of him, and a new staff under Robert Saleh and Brian Daboll has shown no reason to change that. The catches that do exist in Tennessee are going elsewhere: Elic Ayomanor took 18% of the 2025 targets and Calvin Ridley 16%.
The history backs the decline too: among tight ends in his spot, points a game fell 0.7 on average from one season to the next, and he began this year at zero. This is who he has been since arrival, not just this fall. His 2024 in Tennessee was a four-game cameo across the back half of that season, 1.6 points in all, TE99 among 111. Our preseason number of 18 points assumed 13 games and a role that hasn't appeared. There's no injury to wait out, no designation since before week 6 of 2026. He's just not playing.
Cut him loose for a tight end who sees a target. Even a streaming week beats a zero every Sunday, and his bye in week 9 of 2026 is still coming.
