The trend line inside the season is what matters. He opened 2026 with 14.2 points in week 1 of 2026, then 16.2 in week 2 of 2026, 22.6 in week 3 of 2026, 23.7 in week 4 of 2026 and 24.6 in week 5 of 2026. That is a quarterback getting sharper every week, and the tracking backs it up: +4.7 percentage points over expectation on 189 attempts, QB8 among 35 with 50 or more tracked, while pressure arrives on 22% of dropbacks and he still gets the ball out in 2.57 seconds. Twelve touchdowns in five games says the ceiling from 2024, when he was QB3, is back in reach.
The 2025 wreck is not the reason to hesitate. Eight games, 16.8 points a game, QB28. But the record shows exactly where it went wrong: the wrist put him on the injury report from week 12 of 2023 onward and cost him weeks 3 to 9 and 11 to 12 of 2025. Nothing since before week 2 of 2026, and he has played every week this season. The real worry is that the wrist acts up again, and that is why our preseason number of 277 points was built on 14 expected games rather than a full 17.
The setup around him did not get worse. Zac Taylor still calls the plays, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins took 51% of CIN's targets in 2025 and both are back, and Burrow sits first on the depth chart with Joe Flacco behind him. Our board has him QB4, well above where drafters took him before the season. He is beating the 19.8 a game we set for him at 20.2 so far. Hold him through the week 6 of 2026 bye and keep him in your lineup every week he plays.
