Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
A rookie tight end who went undrafted, sitting fifth on the Dallas depth chart behind Jake Ferguson, Brevyn Spann-Ford, Luke Schoonmaker and Princeton Fant. That was the case before the season, and it has not improved: he has been on IR since before week 3 of 2026 and missed all five weeks so far. The board ranks him below every available tight end while he sits on that list. He is 24.8 years old on opening day, an undrafted rookie from the 2026 class, so even the age curve does not argue for patience.
Our preseason number gave him 1 point for the whole 2026 season, 1.0 a game, built on the 1 game we thought he might play. Even healthy, the role never existed. Dallas threw to CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens for 46% of its 2025 targets between them, and Ferguson owns the tight end work. There is no chain of events here that ends with Rogers producing in 2026. The offense itself gives him nothing to grab either: Brian Schottenheimer and Klayton Adams are back calling the same scheme that ran at 30.6 seconds a play with 56% of situation-neutral snaps as passes in 2025, a 7.5-win shape that funneled everything to the wideouts.
The bye lands in week 14 of 2026, so even a healthy return late in the year would run into the stretch at LAR in week 15 of 2026 and the home games against JAX and NYG after that, matchups that do nothing for a fifth tight end.
We would cut him and keep the roster spot for a player who can actually help this season. If he resurfaces, watch whether the coaching staff gives him snaps behind Ferguson, but do not spend a week of waiting to find out.
