Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
A seventh-round rookie who never cleared the weekly median in 16 games last season has now opened 2026 with zero carries in five weeks. Two catches for nine yards is the entire season. That 0.6 points a game is not a slow start, it is a player the offense has no plan for.
The role tells you why. He is listed third among Jacksonville backs, behind Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez Jr., with Ameer Abdullah fourth behind them, and the passing game already funnels somewhere else. Jakobi Meyers and Brian Thomas Jr. took 42% of the JAX targets between them in 2025. Last season he played on 22.5% of the snaps, and even his receiving profile is thin, an average target depth of minus 1.4 yards, the kind of checkdown work that only scores if it turns into touchdowns. He has scored none. He got 1 touch inside the ten all of last season, and 6 red-zone touches across the whole year. The coaching staff is unchanged from 2025, so there is no new voice to imagine handing him something more.
Our preseason number was 46 points across the 13 games we expected, about 3.5 a game, and even that cautious read now looks too kind. He missed nothing to injury, so the low weeks are not health, they are choice. The bye arrives in week 7 of 2026, and beyond it sits a weeks 15 to 17 of 2026 stretch away at HOU, away at DAL, then home against WSH, with nothing in the schedule that changes his touch outlook. He is not worth a roster seat for a manager with a live lineup to fill. Spend the seat on a back with a real path to touches.
