Our read
Written Oct 18, from his facts through last season
Bentley has sat out every week of the 2026 season so far, weeks 1 through 5, and the out designation he has carried since before week 6 of 2026 gives no sign that changes soon. Our preseason projection of 5 points was built on just 4 expected games because of injury risk, and those weeks are already spent. Even in the good tail of the range, a healthy season only reaches 19 points.
Even if he were active, the role would barely exist. He sits fourth among DEN tight ends, behind Evan Engram, Adam Trautman and Nate Adkins, and he came in as a seventh-round rookie with no ADP on our board. Payton calls the plays himself and Engram is the tight end who eats targets in that offense. Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin took 39% of the targets between them in 2025, so there was never much left over for a fourth tight end to fight for.
We had him TE121 and 387th overall, and our sources held no ADP for him before the season. That read looks right so far, only worse, since the games we expected have not happened at all. The bye comes in week 10 of 2026, so even if he gets healthy after that, you would be stashing a fourth-string rookie tight end through the heart of your schedule for a role that may never arrive. A 12-team roster has better uses for the spot. Cut him and only look back if Engram misses time and Bentley is suddenly active.
