Our read
Written Oct 18, from his facts through last season
One catch for 2 yards through five weeks of 2026, and that one catch came back in week 3 of 2026. Every other week is a zero. We set him at 14 points for the season, about 1.1 a game, and he is running at 0.2, so even the small number we gave him is out of reach unless something changes in a hurry.
Nothing suggests it will. Pittsburgh lists him third at the position behind Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington, and last year in Kansas City the shape was identical: 1 target all season, an 11.9% snap share, 0.6 points a game across two appearances. Two straight years of healthy scratches tell you what ten teams already concluded about the role he can hold at 32. In 2024 he played zero of 17 games with no injury behind it, so the sitting goes back further than last season. The move from KC to PIT was supposed to be the opening, but the target competition there is DK Metcalf and Kenny Gainwell taking 39% between them, and the tight end room was crowded before he arrived. Even the way he is used, when he is used, goes nowhere: an average depth of target of 1.0 yards last season, TE116 among 125 qualifying tight ends, and zero red-zone touches.
For scale, his own 2023 was 22.2 points over 12 games, and even that was TE66 among 98. He has not come within miles of that since. With no ADP on record and a bye in week 9 of 2026 still ahead, there is no reason to spend a roster spot waiting. Let him go, and revisit only if injuries gut the top of Pittsburgh's depth chart.
