Our read
Written Oct 18, from his facts through last season
Gabriel has played nothing in 2026. Weeks 1 through 5 of 2026 all went by without him, and the IR designation landed before week 3 of 2026. While he sits on that list the board ranks him below every available quarterback at the position, and he cannot score a point until he comes off it. There is no ADP for him either, so nothing before the season or since has given you a reason to keep him.
The 2025 record tells you what he is even when healthy. 70.1 points over 10 games, 7.0 a game, QB39 among 81 qualifying quarterbacks, and he cleared the position's weekly median in just 2 of those 10 starts. The best week, week 10 of 2025, hit 20.08, but the worst was a flat zero in week 4 of 2025. His snap share slipped from 54% in weeks 2 to 6 of 2025 to 38% in weeks 10 to 16, so the little role he had was already shrinking. Cleveland also replaced both the head coach and the play caller this year, bringing in Todd Monken and Travis Switzer with no track record with Gabriel, so the path back to a real role runs through strangers.
Our preseason number was 9 points for the season, built on expecting just 1 game, and he has already burned five weeks of that budget, which is why our projection sits at 8.8 points with nothing behind it. Behind him in the tier the drop is a 1.4-point cliff, which tells you how little anyone below him offers either way. Drop him, the roster spot serves you better on a quarterback who can actually play.
