Our read
Written Sun 12:01 am Central, for week 6
The Vikings do not play in week 6 of 2026, and Mason is on injured reserve on Sunday's report, so he does not play and scores nothing this week. He has been out since week 1, where his lone game gave him 11.9 PPR points, and he still sits second among Minnesota backs behind Aaron Jones. Keep him stashed if you have the roster space and cover his spot with a fill-in this week. His next chance comes in week 7 at home against Indianapolis.
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
Our board has him below every available running back at the position, and that is the whole problem with holding him. He has been on IR since before week 3 of 2026, no headlines point to a return, and the bye in week 6 of 2026 is still ahead. He plays no game while that designation stands, so the 11.9 points he put up in week 1 of 2026, on 15 carries and 59 yards, is all the season holds. Weeks 2 through 5 of 2026 are zeros.
Even when he is back, the role never promised much. He is listed second among MIN backs behind Aaron Jones, and last season showed what that means under O'Connell, who calls the plays himself: 43.6% of MIN's snaps, RB45 among 158 qualifying backs, and 51 receiving yards all year, RB78 among 159 qualifying backs. The passing game runs through Justin Jefferson and Addison, who took 30% and 20% of MIN's targets in 2025, half of everything between them. Mason's one real lever was goal-line work, 30 red-zone touches in 2025, RB34 among 148 qualifying backs, which kept the scoring alive without ever catching the ball. He cleared 15 points in only 1 of 16 played weeks that year.
Our preseason number was 117 points, RB37 on our board, built on 14 expected games, and that count already looks generous with four weeks gone. If you need the roster spot, use it on a back who can help you in weeks 7 through 10 of 2026. The only thing that would change our read is word he is off IR and taking a real share from Jones, and there is no sign of it.
