Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Nwangwu has played two games this season and touched the ball zero times, 0.0 points a game across weeks 4 and 5 of 2026 after missing weeks 1 through 3. That is not a slow start, it is the whole picture: a sixth-year back listed fourth in New York behind Breece Hall, Braelon Allen, Isaiah Davis and Andrew Beck, on a team that runs the fewest plays a minute and passes on 44% of neutral situations.
The one line that keeps him from being a total non-factor is efficiency in scoring range, 21.4% of his touches last season in the red zone and inside the ten. But those are 3 touches in a 13-touch season, RB102 in the red zone among 148 backs, and players in that spot have seen their scoring fall 10.2 points a game on average the next season, a cost that profile carries. He averaged 2.5 a game in 2025 before falling to 0.5. Snap share was 3.9%, RB135, so there is no hidden role waiting to expand, and when Garrett Wilson and Mason Taylor took 52% of the targets between them there was no receiving work left over either.
Availability is its own problem: 10 games played in 2025, 2 in 2024, and a hand injury kept him Out from week 15 of 2024 onward. Last season he topped his position's weekly median in 0 of 10 games, with a best week of 3.1 points in week 17 of 2025. We had him for 15 points all season before it started and he has not moved that number. The spot is better spent on a running back who will actually see carries.
