Written Sun 12:01 am Central, for week 6
Kyler Murray does not play this week, with Minnesota on bye in week 6 of 2026, so he scores nothing while your lineup takes the field. Next game is week 7 at home against Indianapolis, kicking off Sunday 12:00 pm Central. There's no health angle here: no designation on Sunday's report, and he's still first among Vikings QBs over J.J. McCarthy and Carson Wentz. The 9.9 PPR points a game this season says he's bench depth right now, so find a fill-in for the week and hold him for the Colts game.
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The team change is what keeps him rostered. Minnesota's offense, O'Connell calling his own plays, with Jefferson taking 30% of the targets and Addison 20% last season, was always the reason our number sat at 224 and QB18 on our board. The late stretch of the opening month, 18.26 points in week 5 of 2026, was the first week that looked like the plan working, and the tracking backs it up: he has been pressured on only 20% of his dropbacks, and he is completing passes 3.4 percentage points over expectation, QB12 among 35 quarterbacks with enough attempts tracked. That is a passer keeping plays alive, not one drowning.
The problem is the scoring. Two passing touchdowns through five weeks, no rushing scores, and 20 carries for 93 yards. For a quarterback whose fantasy case has always leaned on his legs, that is thin, and it is why the season opened with -0.38 points in week 1 of 2026, sat out week 2 of 2026 entirely, then produced two weeks in single digits before the 18-point day in week 5 of 2026 turned things. Also worth holding against him: our number came in 16.4 points under what quarterbacks drafted around pick 128.7 have averaged historically, injuries pooled in. We shaded him down for a reason.
That reason is his record. Nine weeks missed in 2023, nine in 2025, weeks 10 through 18 of 2025. We expected 13 games before the year and he has already sat out week 2 of 2026. His bye is week 6 of 2026, so nothing new arrives this week. Hold him if you carry two quarterbacks, because the O'Connell fit plus the trajectory he showed in week 5 of 2026 is worth a roster spot. In a one-quarterback league, bench him until a second showing like that one arrives, and if someone offers you a steadier starter for him straight across, we would listen.
