Our read
Written Oct 18, from his facts through last season
Minus 0.64 points in his only game, with 34 pass yards and zero touchdowns, and four weeks of 2026 on the sideline before it. There is no injury designation since before week 3, so the weeks 1 to 4 of 2026 absences read as a coaching call, not a medical one. Kevin Stefanski and Tommy Rees are both new, and Michael Penix Jr. sits right behind him on the depth chart. That is the situation in one breath: a 28-year-old quarterback on a short leash in a fresh offense.
The career arc points the wrong way too. He went from 16.14 points a game in 2024 down to 11.34 in 2025, and he only cleared 15 points in 5 of 14 weeks last year. Two years ago he put up 270.4 points over a full 17 games and finished QB10, so the fall is not a small one. His worst week last year was -1.4 in week 7 of 2025. The red-zone work has dried up, one red-zone touch in 2025 and none inside the ten, and Drake London and Kyle Pitts absorbed 53% of ATL targets. Our number for him is 195 points for the season, QB21, but that was written before any of this happened. Our preseason pace of 13.9 a game already looks generous.
The call: hold him only if you can stash a quarterback in a superflex hole, and even then week 6 of 2026 is the deadline. If he does not bounce back against a real look, cut him for a quarterback with a live job. He is not giving you anything right now to justify the spot.
