Our read
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
Nothing has happened yet, and that is the whole report. Simpson, a rookie for LAR with no ADP before the season, has missed every week so far, weeks 1 through 5 of 2026, and carries a designation that has held since before week 6. There is no snap, no throw, nothing to judge him on in 2026.
Where he sits is the reason to wait. He is listed third among LAR quarterbacks behind Matthew Stafford, with Matthew Caldwell fourth, and Sean McVay calls the plays himself, which means a rookie only sees the field if Stafford breaks or plays badly. Neither has happened. So the 141 points we set for him before the season, built on 10 expected games, is resting entirely on a scenario that has not begun. If you took our preseason pace, 14.1 a game, every missed week makes the rest of that number harder to reach.
The low end of his range, 51 points, is what an injury-shortened first season looks like, and five missed weeks is how that starts. The middle range, 94 to 188, still needs him on the field, and even before week 1 of 2026 we knew injuries could hold him to as few as 3 games or let him play as many as 16. His bye in week 11 of 2026 is still to come, so one more inactive week is already behind him before the schedule gives him a rest.
If he is sitting on a waiver wire in a two-quarterback or superflex league, a stash costs you little and a first-round quarterback is worth parking on a bench spot. In a one-quarterback league, he is doing nothing for you while Stafford plays. Check back when he is active, because that is the only fact that changes this call.
