Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Kolar has missed two of five weeks this season, weeks 3 and 4 of 2026, and he carries no designation since before week 5, so the health story is at least not urgent. What is urgent is that the healthy weeks have not rewarded anyone who drafted him. Three games, 3.3 points a game, 7 targets, 6 catches, 58 yards, zero touchdowns. That is a backup tight end's line, not a streamer's.
The depth chart lists him first among LAC tight ends, which sounds better than it is, because David Njoku sits second and Oronde Gadsden II third, and the target pie was already thin before they arrived. Keenan Allen and Ladd McConkey combined for 43% of LAC's targets in 2025. Kolar's own 2025 target share was 3.7%, TE76 among 137 qualifying tight ends, and his touches inside the ten were 2 all season. There is no scoring lane here.
And the pattern behind that is the part that ends the debate. Among players in his spot, a scoring share like his has cost 0.7 points a game from one season to the next. His three seasons read 2.0, 2.8 and 3.3 points a game, and he cleared 15 points in none of 13 weeks in 2025. Our preseason number was 68 points, TE44 on our board, and he is running well under the pace that number implies. The bye in week 7 of 2026 gives you a clean exit. We would use that roster spot on someone else.
