Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The usage is the case against him. Last season he ran routes on 42.1% of Denver's snaps, TE56 among 137 qualifying tight ends, and his target share fell from 25.1% in 2024 to 13.5%. This year it has not recovered: 19 targets through week 6 of 2026, average depth of 5.5 yards, and one touchdown. That is a checkdown role in an offense where Courtland Sutton and Troy Franklin took 39% of the targets between them in 2025. He got zero touches inside the ten in 2025, TE87 among 126 qualifying tight ends. He cleared 15 points in none of his 16 played weeks in 2025, and his worst was a 0 in week 9 of 2025.
The 2023 season, 230.3 points and TE2 among 98, is three years gone. He scored 6.4 a game in 2025, and the year-over-year history says players in his spot gained 1.3 points a game the next season. We are not banking that. He is 32, in his tenth year, and the five weeks since his 14.3 in week 1 of 2026 include a 0, a 1.6 and a 3.3.
To his credit he has played every week, no injury designation since before week 1 of 2026, and he sits first among Denver's tight ends ahead of Adam Trautman. But our number had him at 56 points for the season, TE60 at the position, and he is tracking right on that low line. He is worth a roster spot only if your league gives nothing to anyone below TE20. Otherwise he is costing a spot a better tight end could use.
