Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Spencer Rattler has played no football in 2026. Weeks 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 of 2026 all read did not play, and there is no injury designation to explain it, so this is a coaching call. Tyler Shough is the guy in New Orleans, Rattler is listed second, Zach Wilson is behind him, and Kellen Moore and Doug Nussmeier are back running the same offense that buried him last year. The record backs that read: he played 9 of 17 in 2025 with none missed to injury, meaning 8 healthy weeks he simply did not play.
When he did play in 2025, the numbers were thin. 99.1 points over those 9 games, 11.0 a game, QB36 among 81 qualifying quarterbacks, above the position's weekly median just 3 times, and a worst week of 0 in week 15 of 2025. His yards per touch fell from 8.1 in 2024 to 5.2, which is the kind of year-over-year slide that shaves real points off a quarterback's line. Even his novelty value faded, 0 receiving yards after the target share crept up to 0.6%. And the staff pulled him anyway, his snap share running 99% over weeks 1 to 4 of 2025 and 61% over weeks 6 to 15.
Our number had him at 45 points for the season, built on 6 expected games, about 7.5 a game. He is at zero of that now with a week 8 of 2026 bye still ahead. Hold him only if you stash quarterbacks in deep formats and want to see whether Shough stumbles. In any normal league there are better uses for the spot.
