Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The five blank weeks tell you most of it. Fidone has been healthy enough to dress since before week 5 of 2026, no designation, no headlines, and still did not play in weeks 1 through 5 of 2026. When a coaching staff keeps a second-year tight end inactive while fully available, that is a depth-chart verdict, and his spot confirms it: fourth among the Giants tight ends, behind Isaiah Likely and Theo Johnson.
The one-game history does not argue for patience. In week 7 of 2025 he played, ran a route on 3% of the team snaps, caught nothing, and scored nothing. That is the entire major-league record, one week, zero points, TE124 among 137 qualifying tight ends.
He was a seventh-round pick in 2025, 219th overall, and turned 24 on opening day, so there is no pedigree asking for more time. The passing game gives him nowhere to grow into either, with Wan'Dale Robinson and Malik Nabers combining for 58% of the 2025 targets between them.
Our preseason number was 12 points over 12 expected games, about 1.0 a game, and that depended on availability and a role opening up. Neither has shown up. He is five weeks behind that pace already, the bye in week 8 of 2026 is next, and new play caller Matt Nagy has spent the first month ignoring him. There is no weekly starter hiding here, and holding a fourth tight end who cannot get on the field costs you a spot you could use on a week-to-week option. Drop him, and check back only if an injury ahead of him forces the Giants to play him.
