Our read
Written Sep 8, from his facts through last season
The whole case here is that he does not score. Three seasons in, his career total is zero points. He played 1 of 17 games in 2025, 5 of 17 in 2024, and 1 of 17 in 2023, and not one of those weeks produced a point. That is not a slow start, that is seven NFL weeks with nothing on the board.
The reason is simple: he barely plays. His snap share last season was 3.0%, which put him 125th of 126 qualifying tight ends. He caught nothing because he was targeted nothing, a 2.6% target share and an average depth of target of 2.0 yards, which tells you the few balls that came his way were checkdowns at the line of scrimmage. He is 26.8 years old, a seventh-rounder in 2023, and the depth chart as of September 4 lists him fourth among SF tight ends behind George Kittle, Jake Tonges, and Luke Farrell. Even if Kittle missed time, Willis would be jumping two players just to see the field, and Shanahan has shown no reason to feature him.
Our number has him at 11 points for the season, and the middle range where most outcomes land is 3 to 20. There is no ADP on file for him, which means nobody in your league is spending a pick. That part is correct. He sits five players deep in his tier before a 0.7-point cliff, so if you have some reason to roster a fourth San Francisco tight end, he is a free agent addition in week 12, not a draft pick. Leave him off the board entirely and check back only if Kittle goes down.
