Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The 13.7 he put up in week 3 of 2026 and the 11.3 in week 4 of 2026 are the reason to keep him around, and the 0.9 in week 1 of 2026 plus the 5.9 last week in week 5 of 2026 are the reason to be careful. What sits underneath is encouraging: 1.8 yards after contact a carry on 33 tries puts him RB21 among 53 backs with at least 25 carries, so the burst that took his yards per touch from 3.6 in 2024 to 5.9 in 2025 carried over to a new team. Mike McDaniel calling plays for Jim Harbaugh is a fresh enough setup to keep watching.
The cap on it is role. He is listed second behind Omarion Hampton, and the red-zone share tells you what that means: 12% of LAC's red-zone carries and targets in his games, only 4 of 34, and 2 of 19 inside the ten. Last year he saw 19.7% of his own touches in the red zone, RB38, and still finished RB67 among 159 qualifying backs. One touchdown through five weeks will not move a roster.
History also nudges down: backs in his spot have dropped 1.6 points a game year to year on average, and he averaged 4.6 last season. He beat the weekly median just 5 of 13 weeks in 2025 and never topped 15. Our preseason number is 78 points over 11 expected games. Hold him through the week 7 of 2026 bye, but if the inside-the-ten work stays at two touches by week 10 of 2026, cut him for a hotter hand.
