Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Charbonnet has missed every week so far, weeks 1 through 5 of 2026, and he has carried the O designation since before week 3 of 2026. No recent headlines, so we are guessing at a return, and guessing is a bad way to fill a lineup spot.
Even healthy, the profile worries us. Last season he finished RB24 with 179 points over 16 games, but 40.1% of his production came from touchdowns, and that scoring dependence has cost backs in his spot 13.7 points a game the next year, net of other factors. His red-zone touch share of 26.0% comes with the same warning, 10.2 points a game lost on average. The receiving work dried up too: his target share went from 9.1% in 2024 to 5.5% in 2025, and the yards per touch slid from 5.1 to 4.3. The target pecking order in Seattle did him no favors either, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba taking 36% and Cooper Kupp 16% in 2025, 52% between them. Even the goal-line work he did get, 32 touches inside the ten, RB6 among 148 qualifying running backs in 2025, comes docked, with players in his spot down 4.8 points a game the next season on average.
Our preseason number was 78 points, below where drafters took him at 145.5, and that assumed 14 games he is now unlikely to reach. The listed depth chart spot, fourth among SEA backs, is the latest we hold and may just reflect the injury, but it does not help the case. If a waiver claim elsewhere needs the spot, cutting him is defensible. If you have the depth, hold through the bye in week 11 of 2026 and only revisit if he is back on the field and carving out touches.
