Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The two weeks that made you look, 11.6 points in week 4 of 2026 and 12.6 in week 5, are the whole highlight reel. The other three weeks this season went 0, 0 and 3, and the reason sits in the scoring-range numbers: 6% of the Chargers' red-zone carries and targets in his games, RB59 among the 65 backs with 20 or more carries and targets, and just 1 of 19 carries and targets inside the ten. Backs with that kind of scoring-range role cost themselves the touchdowns that turn 6 points into 12, and he has leaned on scoring before, 2 touchdowns carrying his line so far.
The path to a real role is not obvious either. He is listed third among LAC backs behind Omarion Hampton and Keaton Mitchell, and last season his target share was a modest 5.4%, RB56 among 158 qualifying backs. The 2025 breakout was real, 9.1 points a game and RB42 among 159 qualifying backs after 3.63 the year before, but it ran on volume rather than efficiency, and that volume has not shown up in 2026.
We had him at 52 points for the season, RB65 on our board, with a preseason pace of 4.0 a game, so the last two weeks are above even that modest bar. There is a case to wait one more week and see whether Mike McDaniel's new offense keeps him involved. But with a bye in week 7 of 2026 coming and one player left in his tier before a 6.3-point drop, we would cut him for a healthier flier unless you have roster room to spare.
