Our read
Written Sun 12:01 am Central, for week 6
The Vikings are off in week 6 of 2026, so Aaron Jones Sr. does not play and scores nothing this week. He's clean on Sunday's report and sits first among Minnesota backs, ahead of Jordan Mason. His last three games have climbed from 14.2 PPR points to 16.8 PPR points to 18.7 PPR points, with 14 PPR points a game and 2 touchdowns through week 5. Fill his lineup spot from your bench this week, keep him on the roster, and bring him back for week 7 at home against the Colts.
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The role is what keeps a 31.8-year-old back on rosters, and Minnesota has handed him a real one: 41% of the team's red-zone carries and targets in his games, RB14 among 65 backs with 20 or more touches, plus 38% of the carries and targets inside the ten. Last year the goal-line work barely existed, 11% of his own touches there, and the touches came without the scores. That part has flipped. And when the body has held up, the numbers have been real: back in 2024 he played all 17 games and put up 241.6 points, RB14 among 129 backs.
The week-by-week line says the same thing. He went 10 in week 1 of 2026, then 10.5, then 14.2, then 16.8, then 18.7 in week 5, and our preseason pace was 9.2 a game over the 14 we expected. He is beating it. Our number for the full season sits at 129 points, with most outcomes landing between 103 and 155, and nothing in the first five weeks argues to lower it. Jordan Mason sits second on the depth chart behind him, so nobody is coming to take the work.
The worry is what is under the touchdowns. He is at minus 0.4 rushing yards over expected a carry, minus 38 in all on 97 tracked carries, RB28 among 36 backs, and 1.6 yards after contact a carry. That costs him when the scores dry up, and the decline was already showing, 14.21 points a game in 2024 down to 9.89 in 2025. The 2025 season ended on an Out tag for his hip, with 12 of 17 games played and five missed. Ride him now, but if a healthy week coincides with a quiet red-zone day, that is your exit window.
