Our read
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
Week 4 of 2026 gave you 22.8 points, and week 5 gave you 2.6. That is the whole season in two lines, a player whose role keeps shrinking and who spiked once. His 2026 season started a game late since he sat out the opener, but the knee that shut his 2025 down in the back half has kept him off the injury report since before week 6 of 2026, and he has played four games with one week above 15 points.
The role is the worry. Inside 2025 his snap share fell from 78% in the first four weeks to 47% late, and New Orleans then brought in Travis Etienne, who sits first on the depth chart while Kamara is listed second. The target share got cut in half, from 21.4% in 2024 to 10.5% in 2025, and that passing-game role was what made him a top-ten running back in 2024. Now he gets 17% of the red-zone carries and targets in his games this season, 6 of 35, which is mid-pack work.
Our preseason number was 99 points, RB46, and he was taken at 151.6 before the season, so the expectations were modest to begin with. But the fall from his 2024 form to 9.15 points a game in 2025 is the kind of year-over-year drop that has historically cost running backs in his spot, and at 31 with a by-committee backfield ahead of him on the depth chart, we see no reason that reverses. His bye comes in week 8 of 2026, then a stretch at TB and ARI in weeks 15 and 16. Hold him as depth, start him only if Etienne misses time, and otherwise keep hunting for a back with a fuller role.
