Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Twelve touchdowns in five games is the story with Cousins in this new Vegas offense, and the 18.1 points a game through week 5 of 2026 is running ahead of the 14.4 a game we set for him before the season. Klint Kubiak and Andrew Janocko are both new to him this year, and so far the change of scenery has done nothing but help. He has been pressured on 27% of his dropbacks and blitzed on 27% of his 180 charted dropbacks, yet his completion rate is still running 3.1 points over expectation, QB15 among the 35 quarterbacks with enough tracked attempts. That is a guy beating pressure rather than folding to it.
The case against him is everything before this year. In 2025 he scored 10.3 points a game over 10 games, beat the position's weekly median just 4 times and cleared 15 points twice, with a 1.16 stinker in week 3 of 2025. He is 38, in season number 15, and the last time he started hot somewhere new, the 2023 season ended at week 8 of 2023 and did not come back. There is no injury designation this time since before week 1 of 2026, and he has played all five weeks, but the record says the cushion is thin at his age.
He sits QB28 on our board at overall rank 215, with our preseason number at 173 points and most outcomes landing between 126 and 219. Keep starting him while the touchdowns hold. The first week he finishes under the position median again is the week to move on.
