Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
No injury designation since before week 1 of 2026 is the fact that settles this one. Campbell missed weeks 1 through 5 of 2026 anyway, all five, and healthy scratches say more about a roster's plans than any scouting note does. The Chargers are keeping him in Street clothes by choice.
The role backs that up. He is listed seventh among LAC receivers, behind Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Tre Harris and Brenen Thompson, and the 2025 target picture in Los Angeles already funneled 43% of passes to Keenan Allen and McConkey alone. There is no path for a 24.8-year-old undrafted second-year player at number seven on that depth chart, even with Mike McDaniel calling plays fresh this year.
The history is thin in the way that matters. The lone game he got on the field in 2025 ended with 0.0 points, and across that season he saw a 7.1% snap share and a 0.0% target share. We put 7 points on him before the season, built on 2 expected games at 3.5 a game, and the season so far has gone under even that low bar. He has played zero games and the full season range bottoms out near nothing.
The call is to let him go and free the spot for a receiver who can actually take the field. If a stretch of health scratches somehow turns into snaps, that is a waiver-wire pickup, not a reason to keep him warm through the bye in 2026 that is still ahead.
