Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Shorter has not played a snap all season. Weeks 1 through 5 of 2026 are all scratches, and there is no injury designation since before week 4 of 2026, so this is not a health problem, it is a coaches-don't-want-him problem. The depth chart has him seventh among LV receivers, behind Bowers, Mayer, Ian Thomas and Carter Runyon. A fifth-round pick from 2023 who has never caught a pass does not jump that group by waiting.
The history is just as empty. In 2025 he played 3 of 17 games and scored 0.0 points a game, with a 1.2% snap share, 135th among 137 qualifying receivers, and a 0.0% target share. In 2024 he played one game. Even when healthy, he has not been on the field, and Bowers plus Tre Tucker absorbed 42% of LV targets last season. The team went 3 wins and played at 33.8 seconds a play with 58% of situation-neutral plays as passes, a pace that asks nothing of a seventh receiver. The new staff under Klint Kubiak gave no sign in the preseason that his role would change, and nothing through five weeks has argued otherwise.
Our preseason number was 2 points for the full season, built on just 2 expected games, and he is already behind that pace with every week he sits. Our board puts him 485th overall and WR202, with one player left in his tier before a 1.0-point cliff. This is a roster spot going to waste. Use it on any receiver with a path to snaps, and if someone else wants him, wish them luck.
