Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Zero touchdowns through five games, and week 5 of 2026 was a flat zero. That is the whole problem with holding Gunnar Helm right now. He has played every week, so this is not an availability story. The Titans have simply stopped feeding him, and his line has walked backwards from week 1 of 2026 (6.8 points) to week 2 (3.3), week 3 (3.4), week 4 (1.5), and then nothing at all. Nine catches and 60 receiving yards in five games is not a tight end anyone can start in a 12-team league.
Last season he gave you 91.7 points over 16 games, TE31 among 137 qualifying tight ends, and he beat the position's weekly median in half of those weeks. That was the case for him coming in, and our preseason number of 86 points sat right on top of it. But the 2025 usage never supported more than that: 11.1% of TEN's targets went his way, TE35 among 137, and only 8 of his touches came inside the red zone. Even in that role, the mid-season slide was already visible, with his share of TEN's snaps falling from 61% by weeks 14 to 17 of 2025 against the 38% he held in weeks 1 to 4 of 2025.
Now Robert Saleh and Brian Daboll run the offense, and five weeks in, nothing suggests Helm gains from the change. He is TE30 on our board and first on the TEN depth chart, which only means the alternatives are Bellinger and Granson. We would drop him and check back only if Daboll starts steering him 5 or 6 targets a game.
