Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Zero touchdowns on 15 targets says most of what you need. Four games of 2026, 11 catches, 82 yards, 4.8 points a game, and the bye in week 5 of 2026 already behind him. That is barely a step up from 2025, when he averaged 4.3 points over 15 games and finished TE42 among 137 qualifying tight ends. Dave Canales and Brad Idzik both return calling the same offense, so there is no fresh scheme to hope changes his lot.
The role is the wall. Even across weeks 1 to 4 of 2025, his best stretch, his target share only reached about 10%, and over the full season McMillan and Legette combined for 41% of the targets. He sits first on the depth chart ahead of Mitchell Evans and Darren Waller, yet the title came with thin volume. What he does get is short, 4.7 yards per target this season, 30th among 33 tight ends with at least 15 targets, and his 2025 red-zone share of his own touches was just 13.5%. Our preseason number was 86 points with a pace of 5.7 a game over the 15 games we expected, and he is running under that pace while failing to find the end zone once.
Availability has never been the problem here, 15 games played in each of 2023, 2025 and so far in 2026. Production is, three straight seasons stuck near 60 points. The weeks 15 to 17 of 2026 stretch against CIN, PIT and SEA is the only argument for holding him on a deep roster. Otherwise the wire offers tight ends with a wider path to volume, and he is worth dropping until something ahead of him on the depth chart changes the target math.
