Our read
Written Sun 12:01 am Central, for week 6
The Vikings are off in week 6 of 2026, so Hockenson does not play and scores nothing this week. His next game is week 7 at home against the Colts, kicking off Sunday 12:00 pm Central. Keep him stashed on the roster, where in our rest-of-season order he sits at TE15 with 82.4 PPR points left, and just plan a fill-in for this week. The season pace is 9.8 PPR points a game through week 5, so week 7 tells us more.
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The volume is the part worth trusting. Through week 5 of 2026 Hockenson owns 27 targets and sits TE5 among 23 qualifying tight ends in red-zone share, 5 of his team's 32 red-zone carries and targets in his games, and TE5 in air yards share at 20%. Minnesota is throwing to him in the places that pay. What he has not done is finish, one touchdown all season, and the week-to-week spread tells you the rest: 24.9 in week 4 of 2026, then 1.7 in week 5.
The 2025 shape is the same story. He cleared the position's weekly median in 12 of 15 games, so the weeks were rarely empty, but only once did he top 15 points, and the scoring-range usage was thin: 3 touches inside the ten, TE30 among 126 qualifying tight ends. The 2023 TE4 finish hangs over his number, and it keeps pulling drafters. His ADP moved up 16.8 picks before the season, from 170.3 to 153.5, and we had him 93 points for 2026, TE23 on our board, about nine and a half points over the historical mark for tight ends in his range.
The real downside is after the catch: minus 0.5 yards per catch over expectation, TE18 among 20 tracked tight ends, which caps the big plays even when the targets keep coming. He is 29.2 and has missed real time before, only 10 of 17 in 2024, though all five weeks this season are played. Sit him for the Minnesota bye in 2026, then run him out as a TE2 with TE1 weeks when the red-zone looks land, Jefferson and Addison drawing the coverage and the targets still finding him.
