Our read
Written Sun 12:01 am Central, for week 6
The Bengals are off in week 6 of 2026, so Gesicki plays nobody and puts zero points on your board this week. He's healthy, with no designation on Sunday's report, and he's still first among Cincinnati tight ends ahead of Drew Sample and Jack Endries. The bye lands on a stretch where he's run 10.4 PPR points a game with 4 touchdowns through five weeks, so he stays worth a roster spot. Fill his tight end slot with a free agent for this week and get him back in the conversation for week 7 at Baltimore.
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Ten points a game was never the plan here. Our preseason pace was 3.9 a game, and he has beaten that every week but one, including a 0 in week 2 of 2026 that came on limited work. Four touchdowns in five games is doing most of the lifting, and the 12 catches on 17 targets with zero drops say the hands are holding up. He is also running routes downfield, 10.4 yards per target, second among 33 tight ends with 15 or more targets through week 5 of 2026. Last season he managed 71 points over 12 games, TE41 among 137 qualifying tight ends, and he cleared 15 points in only one of those weeks. The season before he ran 141.5 points over 16 games and finished TE13, and that is the ceiling memory, not the recent one.
The case for caution is the same one that made our projection small at 55 points for the season. Chase and Higgins combined for 51% of Cincinnati's targets in 2025, and Gesicki's own share fell from 13.2% in 2024 to 9.4% in 2025. That drop cost him badly, points a game down from 8.84 to 5.89 and a finish at TE41 from TE13 the year before. When the touchdowns slow, the 7.4 he put up in week 5 of 2026 is closer to the truth than the 18.8 in week 1.
He is healthy, listed first among Cincinnati tight ends, and has not missed a week. We would start him and enjoy it while it lasts, but with our board slotting him TE61, we would not hold him through a cold stretch. If the scores dry up by week 8 of 2026, move on.
