Our read
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
The week 1 through week 4 absences were not rest, and he did not dress for any of them, so the out designation going into week 6 of 2026 reads as a continuing problem rather than a new one. He has played zero games as a pro.
He did not play in weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4 of 2026, then his club sat out week 5 of 2026 on the bye, so he has yet to appear in a game this season.
The depth chart tells you why none of it matters yet. He sits third behind Bryce Young and Kenny Pickett, and an undrafted rookie third on the list does not see the field unless two things go wrong ahead of him. Our preseason number was 12 points for the whole season, built on 2 expected games, and he has already spent more weeks unavailable than we projected him to play. The middle range of outcomes ran 1 to 23 points, and the low end there is what injury-shortened seasons look like, which is the path he is on.
The coaching staff is unchanged, Dave Canales calling the shots with Brad Idzik running the offense, so there is no new scheme opening a door for him. Nothing in the recent news helps him either. As it stands he is only holding a roster spot in the deepest leagues, with no path to points for you. If your league has deep benches and you can stash him through the fall, fine, but in a standard league you can find a live body for that spot this week. We would move on unless he suddenly appears higher on the depth chart.
