Our read
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
The three straight missed weeks are the whole case right now. He sat out weeks 3, 4 and 5 of 2026, and the two games he did play gave him 5.3 points a game, 4.1 in his first one of 2026 and 6.4 in his second, with zero touchdowns on 15 carries. That is a running back you are holding on hope, not on production.
The hope has a real basis. Last season he played all 17 games, went RB18 among 159 qualifying backs at 12.7 points a game, and caught his way into relevance, 297 receiving yards at RB14 and a top-20 target share among backs. He cleared the position's weekly median in 13 of 17 weeks. The problem is the fit. Pittsburgh lists him second behind Jaylen Warren, with Connor Heyward also ahead of him, and his 2025 red-zone share of his own touches was 13.6%, RB85 among 147, so he was never a scoring back even when he was the guy.
We projected him RB25 overall, 147 points for 2026, ahead of where drafters took him at 75.4, and he has given nothing toward that yet. The tier note matters for a bench decision: five players left in his tier before a 10.5-point drop. He should be available for week 6 of 2026 with no injury designation since before then, so hold him until you see one healthy game. If he is still sharing work behind Warren after that, let him go before his bye arrives later in 2026.
