Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Through five weeks of 2026 Emeka Egbuka is giving you 10.7 points a game when our preseason pace said 15.8, and that gap is the whole reason he feels like a disappointment. But look at what changed: he went from 10.9% of his own touches in the red zone last season, WR115 among 223 receivers, to 15% of Tampa Bay's red-zone carries and targets this year, WR12 among 64 receivers with real volume. That is the kind of shift that turns steady into scoring, and it has not shown up in the box score yet with only 2 touchdowns on 33 targets. Hold him through the slow start.
We were never worried about his targets. He held a 23.5% target share and a 78.1% snap share as a rookie, and receivers in his spot have historically added about 5 and 2.9 points a game the next year on those profiles. He is also listed first among TB wideouts under Zac Robinson, the new play caller this season, and he has not missed a game or carried a designation all year. The one clunker was week 4 of 2026, 3.3 points, and he answered it with 17.2 in week 5.
Our number had him at 221 points for the season, WR20 at the position, and nothing in the first five weeks says that was wrong, just delayed. The catch is the same one as last year: Mike Evans takes 23% of the targets too, and the deep air yards are thinner than they look, 31% of the team's air yards, only WR32 in that group. Keep starting him and expect the red-zone role to start producing scores before his bye in week 10 of 2026.
