Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The target share says one thing and the end zone says another. Last season he took 23.7% of Chicago's targets, WR20 among 239 receivers, and this year he is pulling 35% of the team's air yards, WR22 among 64 receivers. That is a number one role and Ben Johnson calls the plays himself. But through five weeks of 2026 he sits at 8.5 points a game with zero touchdowns and just 5% of the team's red-zone touches. The volume is landing where touchdowns do not live.
The worry is that the 24.6% touchdown-points share from last season already flagged this: players in his spot drop 0.9 points a game the following year on that profile, and averaging 12.2 a game in 2025, his spot historically loses another 1.2. His separation, 2.5 yards on 22 tracked targets over weeks 3 to 5 of 2026, ranks WR43, so the deep stuff at 35% of air yards has to keep converting on contests rather than comfort. Week 4 of 2026, the 15.4-point game, is the shape we are hoping repeats.
Our number had 199 for the season, 14.2 ahead of the historical result at his 54.9 ADP, and we are not ready to walk that back after five weeks. He has not missed a game, the bye does not hit until week 10 of 2026, and weeks 15 to 17 against BUF, GB and DET could carry the fantasy stretch. Remember that coming off a 12.2-point season, receivers in his spot have historically been docked another 1.2 points a game the next year, so the slow start is not just noise. Hold him. If he is still under 10 points a game by week 8 of 2026, the hold gets shakier.
