Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The number that ends any discussion is 63 receiving yards through five weeks of 2026. Two and a half points a game, no touchdowns, and a best week of 4.4 in week 5 of 2026. We set his pace at 4.3 a game before the season off 64 points over 15 expected games, and he is running well under even that modest bar. On a roster, that is dead weight.
Why the targets will not come is plain to see. He is listed fifth among LAR tight ends, behind Colby Parkinson, Tyler Higbee, Terrance Ferguson and Max Klare, and Sean McVay calls the plays himself with no sign of a redesign. Last season Puka Nacua and Davante Adams combined for 55% of the targets, and Allen's own share was 5.7%, TE57 among 137 qualifying tight ends. His average depth of target was 3.9 yards, TE89 among 125, so even when he does catch one, the yardage is thin.
To his credit, he has played all five weeks with no injury designation, and the jump from 1.41 points a game in 2024 to 4.19 in 2025 showed real growth. But he has already matched that 2025 level once this season and fallen short in every other week, and he never cleared 15 points in any week he played last year. If a tight end-needy league somehow leaves him sitting in free agency, he is a depth stash at best. On a roster now, let him go.
