Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Foster Moreau is playing every week and still not mattering. Five games in 2026, 4.3 points a game, one touchdown, 65 receiving yards. That is ahead of the 3.1 a game we set for him before the season, and it still lands him nowhere near useful. He cleared 8 points once, in week 3 of 2026, and has not come close since. That is a backup tight end's line, and it is being produced as a backup.
The role is the whole problem. Schultz sits first on the Houston depth chart, and Nico Collins and Schultz took 44% of Houston's targets between them in 2025. Moreau's own target share fell from 8.3% in 2024 to 2.8% in 2025, and his snap share sat at 35.3% in 2025, TE79 among 137 qualifying tight ends. His yards per target fell from 9.6 to 5.9 over the same run. Twelve targets through five weeks of 2026 says nothing changed. He is 29 and in his eighth year, and the one-down average depth of target from 2025 tells you the throws he gets are the short ones nobody else wants.
The 2024 season is the last time this was a real fantasy player, 103.3 points and TE28 among 111 tight ends, and that case has not carried over. There is a durability note in his favor, since he has not missed a game this season and carries no injury designation, after playing only 7 of 17 weeks in 2025. But availability without volume is not worth holding. Drop him and use the spot on a running back stash before his week 8 of 2026 bye.
