Our read
Written Oct 19, from his facts through last season
Eight carries through three games. That is the whole 2026 case so far: a scoreless first outing of 2026, 7 the next time out, 1.8 the game after that, and not one target. He sat out weeks 1 and 2 of 2026, and he carries an O designation going into week 6 of 2026. Whatever plan Zac Robinson has for him, it has not started.
The role itself was always narrow. Last season he ran routes on 15.6% of Tampa's snaps, RB102 among qualifying backs, yet took a 24.7% red-zone touch share, RB16, including 15 touches inside the ten. That is a touchdown-only profile, and his scoring ran almost entirely through it. The problem is that backs in that spot tend to lose their scoring share fast, and the history on our board is ugly: players with a 52.5% touchdown-points share fell over 13 points a game the following year on average, and his yards per touch already fell from 7.1 in 2024 to 3.8 in 2025. That is a real cost, and it swamps his 5.4 points a game from a year ago. On top of that, a scoring-heavy profile like his has docked players in his spot 13.7 points a game the next season on average.
We had him at 39 points for the season on a 3.0-point pace across 13 expected games, RB81 on our board, and the first month has done nothing to argue with it. Irving is healthy and first in line. The one thing this profile needs, scoring chances, only exists if the man ahead of him disappears. Hold a roster spot elsewhere and only circle back if Irving misses time.
