Our read
Written Oct 18, from his facts through last season
The numbers this year are about as thin as they come: four games played, one point total above zero, and that was 2.7 in week 5 of 2026. Two carries and two targets through five weeks. He missed week 1 of 2026 and has carried no designation since, so the misses are not the story. The Jets simply have Breece Hall and Braelon Allen ahead of him and nothing flowing to the third back.
The case for waiting on him was always a passing-game angle, because his target share went from 2.0% in 2024 to 6.2% in 2025, good enough for RB49 among 158 qualifying backs on 28.5% of the snaps. But that role still came out to 4.3 points a game and RB59 among 159, and he cleared 15 points once in 16 weeks. The scoring-range work is thin too: 10 red-zone touches put him RB65 among 148 qualifying backs, and just 1 touch inside the ten, RB99 among 148. Aaron Glenn and Tanner Engstrand are both back, so there is no new scheme to expect a change from. With Garrett Wilson and Mason Taylor taking 52% of the 2025 targets, the receiving window here stays small.
Our preseason number was 46 points over 14 expected games, about 3.3 a week, and the middle range bottoms at 29. He is at a fraction of that pace with zero touchdowns. Even the depth behind Hall is stacked, with Braelon Allen listed second and Kene Nwangwu fourth. We would move him off the roster now rather than hold a third-string back for a role that may never arrive.
