Our read
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
The role never arrived. We had him at 44 points for the season and TE84 on our board, a number built on him carving out some work behind Dallas Goedert in Philadelphia. Five weeks in, that carve-out does not exist. Three catches, 12 yards, five targets, and a pair of zero-point weeks among his five played. Nothing on the injury report is holding him back, which is the damning part. He is healthy and still not on the field.
Last year in Jacksonville he cleared the position's weekly median once in 12 games, with a high week of 4.5 points. The usage sat at the bottom of the board: a 35.8% snap share, a 3.7% target share of all targets, and one red-zone touch among his nine touches. Philadelphia has not upgraded any of it, and A.J. Brown plus DeVonta Smith took 54% of the targets here in 2025 before this season began. At 31.8 years old and in his tenth year, there is no developmental angle to lean on either. Even his best recent season, 2024, topped out at 45.2 points over 14 games, TE46 among 111 qualifying tight ends, so the ceiling here was never a real one. And when his snaps did come in 2025, they faded as the year went on, a snap share of 35% in weeks 1 to 4 of 2025 sliding to 27% by weeks 15 to 18.
The gap between what he is giving you, 0.8 points a game, and the 3.1 pace we projected is the whole gap between a roster spot and a free agent wire add. He is costing his managers weekly.
Drop him and spend the spot on anyone with a path to targets.
