Our read
Written Sun 12:01 am Central, for week 6
Traore gives you nothing this week because Miami doesn't play in week 6 of 2026, his bye. He'll return in week 7 away at the Jets, kicking off Sunday at 12:00 pm Central. Even then the path is narrow: he sits third among Dolphins tight ends behind Greg Dulcich and Will Kacmarek, and his only game this season was a zero in week 5 against Cincinnati. He's TE72 in our rest-of-season order, so there's no reason to hold him through the bye in deeper leagues.
Written Oct 17, from his facts through last season
Seydou Traore has played one game in five weeks and produced nothing in it. Weeks 1 through 4 of 2026 were healthy scratches, then week 5 brought zero targets, zero catches, zero points. There is no injury explanation, since he has carried no designation since before week 2 of 2026, so the clean read is that the new staff, Jeff Hafley and play caller Bobby Slowik, simply like other bodies better right now.
That puts him third among Miami's tight ends, behind Greg Dulcich and Will Kacmarek, with Justin Joly and Cole Turner below. Our preseason number gave him 50 points on the season, built on 12 expected games at a 4.2 pace, and even that modest line assumed he would see the field. He is tracking 0.0 points a game instead, and his bye in week 6 of 2026 means the next chance to change anything is week 7.
The case for patience is thin: he is a 24-year-old rookie on a team whose 2025 targets ran 47% through Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, so the tight end pecking order was never going to feed him early. The offense he is joining passed on 52% of situation-neutral plays last year, which is a shape that can support a tight end, but only one who is actually on the field. And the schedule offers no soft landing to force the issue late, with weeks 15 to 17 of 2026 running away at GB, home against LAC, then home against BUF.
But patience is a roster-spot question now. Unless the tight ends ahead of him stumble and Traore starts logging targets, we would move on. If you have a spare taxi spot, hold, otherwise cut him when you need the seat.
